A photosensitive resin for use in the preparation of flexographic printing plates has elasticity, good ink resistance and is capable of being developed using an aqueous system. It is formed from a hydrophobic polymer having a glass transition temperature not higher than 5°C, a lesser quantity of a hydrophylic polymer, an ethylenically unsaturated compound, a solvent in which the hydrophobic polymer is more soluble than the hydrophylic polymer, and a photopolymerization initiator. A plate coated with such a resin is also disclosed.
