A sunscreen composition containing a UV-A dibenzoylmethane derivative, such as 4-(1,1-dimethylethyl) -4'- methoxydibenzoylmethane (PARSOL® 1789), and a stabilizer for the dibenzoylmethane derivative having formula (I) or (II), or mixtures, wherein each R1, same or different, is an alkyl group having 1 to 22 carbon atoms, a diol having the structure HO-R2-OH, or a polyglycol having the structure HO-R3-(O-R2-)m-OH, wherein R2 and R3, same or different, are each an alkylene group, straight chain or branched, having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, and wherein m and n are each 1 to about 100, or a mixture thereof. These diesters and polyesters of formula (I) or (II) are quite effective in stabilizing the dibenzoylmethane derivative UV-A filter compounds making them more effective, and effective for longer periods of time.

L'invention concerne une composition solaire contenant un dérivé de UV-A dibenzoylméthane notamment le 4-(1,1-diméthyléthyl)-4'-méthoxydibenzoylméthane (PARSOL® 1789), ainsi qu'un stabilisant pour le dérivé de dibenzoylméthane de formule (I) ou (II) ou leurs mélanges: dans laquelle chaque R?1¿, identique ou différent, désigne un groupe alkyle ayant entre 1 et 22 atomes de carbone, un diol ayant la structure HO-R?2¿-OH ou un polyglycol ayant la structure HO-R?3¿-(O-R?2¿-)¿m?-OH, où R?2¿ et R?3¿, identiques ou différents, désignent chacun un groupe alkylène, à chaîne droite ou ramifiée, comprenant entre 1 et 6 atomes de carbone, et où m et n désignent chacun une valeur comprise entre 1 et environ 100, ou leur mélange. Ces diesters et polyesters de formule (I) ou (II) stabilisent parfaitement les composés de filtre UV-A d'un dérivé de dibenzoylméthane ce qui augmente leur degré et leur durée d'efficacité.
