The invention provides a method of preparing microcapsules which comprises dissolving or dispersing a radiation-sensitive polymer in a first liquid, dispersing the first liquid in a continuous phase of a second liquid that is more polar than the first liquid, and irradiating the polymer to increase its polarity and form a membrane, and also the membranes prepared.
