ABSTRACT A new physiologically active protein having growth activity to the undifferentiated hematopoietic stem cells and having an N-terminal amino acid sequence described below with a molecular weight of 18,000?2,000 and a hematopoietic stem cell growth agent wherein said new protein is an active ingredient. Image The physiologically active protein of the present invention is useful for such applications as curing for suppression of the bone marrow, bone marrow malfunction or an in vitro growth agent for the peripheral blood stem cells and the bone marrow stem cells. In addition, it is useful for a platelet growth agent and a curing agent for leukopenia. -31-
