A picture hanging tool (10) is provided for facilitated marking of a selected point on a wall (14) or the like for subsequent installation of a fastener used for hanging a picture (12) or other object from the wall. The tool includes an upper handle section (16) adapted for manual grasping, and a lower support or base section (20) having a hook (30) or the like for temporarily supporting the object for movement over the wall surface to a selected precision mounting location. When the desired mounting location is obtained, an actuator mechanism (48) including an actuator pin (62) exposed on the upper handle section is operable to displace a spring-loaded marking element (38) into engagement with the wall surface at the desired point for subsequent fastener installation. The tool is then removed from the wall, the fastener installed at the marked point, and the object hung from the installed fastener.

L'invention concerne un outil de suspension d'image qui facilite le marquage d'un point déterminé sur une paroi ou analogue en vue d'y installer ultérieurement un organe de fixation afin de suspendre une image ou un autre objet à la paroi. L'outil selon l'invention comprend une poignée supérieure pouvant être saisie manuellement et un support ou une base inférieurs pourvus d'un crochet ou analogue afin de supporter provisoirement l'objet et de pouvoir le déplacer sur la surface de la paroi à un emplacement prédéterminé de montage de précision. Lorsque l'emplacement de montage voulu est trouvé, un mécanisme d'actionnement comprenant une broche d'actionnement exposée sur la poignée supérieure permet de mettre un élément de marquage à ressort en contact avec la surface de la paroi sur le point voulu en vue d'y installer ultérieurement l'organe de fixation. L'outil selon l'invention est ensuite retiré de la paroi, l'organe de fixation est installé sur le point marqué et l'objet suspendu à l'organe de fixation est installé.
