ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A piezoelectric ceramic composition comprising a perovskite structure having the formula: Pbl-ACdA(Ni1/3Nb2/3)xTiyZrzO3 where x is in the range from 0.05 to 0.25 y is in the range from 0.30 to 0.95 z is in the range from 0 to 0.65 and x + y + z = 1 in which the Pb is partially replaced by Cd in the crystal such that A is in the range from 0.005 to 0.02, said composition further including at least one additional element said addi- tional element being cadmium, manganese or tungsten, the amount of , cadmium calculated as CdCO3 being from 0.7 to 1.5 weight % of the perovskite structure including the amount of A, the amount of manganese calculated as MnO2, being in the range from 0 to 1.5 weight % of the perovskite structure, and the amount of tungsten, calculated as WO3 being in the range from 0 to 1.0 weight % of said perovskite structure. -i-
