ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This disclosure is directed to an improved strip type or rectangular type piezoelectric resonator utilizing length mode vibration, which includes a piezoelectric ceramic substrate, and first and second main electrode faces formed on opposite surfaces of the piezoelectric ceramic substrate, and which is characterized in that there is further provided a groove formed in one of the first and second main electrode faces so as to extend over an entire length of the piezoelectric ceramic substrate in a direction parallel to its longitudinal direction, and at a position deviated from a center in a widthwise direction of the piezoelectric ceramic substrate by more than 2% of the width of the piezoelectric ceramic substrate.
