ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A pigment composition comprising pigment and at least 5 % by weight based on the weight of composition of a complex formed from one or more nonionic polyether surfactants based on ethylene oxide and a polymeric carboxylic acid having a molecular weight of at least 1500. The pigment composition is readily dispersible in water based systems, especially emul- sion paints, and displays a high colouring power per unit weight.
