The invention describes luminescent optically variable pigments (OVP), methods for obtaining such pigments, as well as the use of such pigments as security elements in inks, coatings and articles. The luminescence centers are preferably incor-porated into the dielectric material of the OVP's optical Fabry-Perot resonance cavity, allowing for the machine-discrimination of luminescent OVP from simple mixtures of luminescents and non-luminescent OVP.

L'invention concerne des pigments luminescents optiquement variables (OVP), des procédés servant à préparer ces pigments, ainsi que l'utilisation de ces pigments en tant qu'éléments de sécurité dans des encres, des revêtements et des articles. Les centres de luminescence sont, de préférence, incorporés dans le matériau diélectrique de la cavité de résonance optique Fabry-Perot de ces pigments optiquement variables, ce qui permet de distinguer à la machine ces pigments luminescents par rapport à de simples mélanges de pigments optiquement variables luminescents et non luminescents.
