A pill crushing syringe (20) is disclosed which includes a barrel (22) and a plunger (24), with abraded surfaces (32, 44) on each so that a pill placed in the barrel (22) is crushed as the plunger (24) advances within the barrel (22). The barrel (22) has an aperture (34) located near the closed end (30) with a catheter (26) connected around and extending from the aperture (34). The plunger (24) has a sealing gland (42) to provide an airtight seal with the barrel (22) so that liquid can be drawn into the barrel (22) through the aperture (34) by withdrawing the plunger (24) from the barrel (22) to thereby suspend the crushed pill in the liquid, and the suspension may be flushed from the barrel (22) by thereafter advancing the plunger (24) into the barrel (22). In an alternative embodiment a bi-level barrel (100) has an aperture in spaced relation to the closed end forming a pocket (116) wherein the crushed pill ingredients accumulate. The pocket (116) at the closed end (112) and the separation between the aperture and the barrel closed end (112) helps prevent the medication from escaping the barrel (100) via the side mounted catheter (104) prior to aspiration. In still other embodiments, the syringe has a side entry plunger (146) or two opposing plungers (166). In a further alternative embodiment the aperture (212) extends through the otherwise closed second barrel end (208) and the catheter (204) extends axially therefrom in better visual comformity with typical syringes. The abraded surfaces (240, 216) include radial protrusion patterns (218) and a plug extending from the plunger (202) prevents the abraded surfaces (242, 216) from meshing to thereby reduce packing of the pill particles between the abraded surfaces (216). The plug also blocks the catheter (204) when the plunger (202) is fully advanced into the barrel to prevent the medication from escaping via the catheter (204) prior to aspiration.
L'invention concerne une seringue (20) de broyage de comprimé comprenant un corps (22) et un piston (24) présentant chacun des surfaces rugueuses (32, 44) de sorte qu'un comprimé placé dans ledit corps (22) soit broyé à mesure que le piston avance dans ce dernier (22). Ledit corps (22) présente une ouverture (34) à proximité de l'extrémité fermée (30), un cathéter (26) étant monté autour de ladite ouverture (34) et s'étendant depuis celle-ci. Le piston (24) est doté d'une presse-étoupe (42) assurant une fermeture étanche du corps (22) de sorte que le liquide puisse être aspiré dans ce dernier (22) par l'ouverture (34), par retrait du piston (24) du corps (22), de sorte que le comprimé broyé soit en suspension dans le liquide, et que la suspension soit expulsée du corps (22) par l'avance du piston dans ce dernier (22). Dans un autre mode de réalisation, un corps à deux niveaux (100) présente, à une certaine distance de l'extrémité fermée, une ouverture formant une poche (116) dans laquelle les principes actifs du comprimé s'accumulent. Ladite poche (116), au niveau de l'extrémité fermée (112), et la séparation entre l'ouverture et l'extrémité fermée (112) du corps empêchent que le médicament ne s'échappe de ce dernier (100), avant l'aspiration, par le cathéter monté latéralement (104). Dans un autre mode de réalisation, la seringue présente un piston à entrée latérale (146) ou à deux pistons opposés (166). Dans encore un autre mode de réalisation, l'ouverture (212) s'étend à travers la deuxième extrémité du corps (208) autrement fermée, le cathéter (204) s'étendant axialement depuis cette dernière, ce qui est plus conforme visuellement aux seringues classiques. Les surfaces rugueuses (240, 216) présentent des motifs de saillies radiales (218), un bouchon s'étendant depuis le piston (202) empêchant celles-ci (240, 216) de se mettre en prise de manière à réduire l'accumulation des particules du comprimé entre les surfaces rugueuses (216). Le bouchon bloque également le cathéter (204) lorsque le piston (202) est entièrement introduit dans le corps de manière à empêcher le médicament de s'échapper par le cathéter (204) avant l'aspiration.
