A pill trapping component which is adapted to be positioned inside the neck dispensing portion of a conventional pill container. The pill trapping component is used to facilitate the retreival of individual pills from the pill container without the risk of contaminating other pills inside the container. The pill trapping component is adapted to trap a limited number of pills inside the dispensing neck portion of the conventional pill container. The pill trapping component has a cylindrical wall which is dimensioned in order to be fittingly inserted into the neck dispensing portion of the conventional pill container. A retaining wall extends integrally from the cylindrical wall. The retaining wall exlends partially across the sectional area of the pill trapping component. The retaining wall has a peripheral edge which is located substantially midway across the sectional area of the pill trapping component. A guiding wall extends from an upper peripheral edge of the pill trapping component and merges into the retaining wall. The guiding wall is adapted to guide the pills towards a pill retaining segment of the retaining wall and to facilitate the ergonomical retreival of the pills trapped by the retaining wall.
