A gasket (70) is provided for joining lengths of pipes (12, 14) having dissimilar end faces (28, 46) which are of approximately equal diameters and which are substantially normal to the longitudinal axis of the pipes (12, 14). The end faces (28, 46) each include a circular recess (34, 49) which are of differing diameters. The gasket has a first side which has a surface contour which is a mirror image of one of the faces and the opposite side has a surface contour which is a mirror image of the other end face. The outer periphery (72) of gasket (70) is of a substantially lesser thickness than its inner marginal portion (74) so that compression during use of the thicker inner marginal portion is minimized.
On décrit un joint d'étanchéité pour assembler des tronçons de tuyaux (12, 14), qui présentent des extrémités (28, 46) dissemblables mais de diamètre approximativement égal, et sont sensiblement perpendiculaires à l'axe longitudinal des tuyaux (12, 14). Ces extrémités (28, 46) comportent un évidement circulaire (34, 49) de diamètre différent. Le joint d'étanchéité comprend un premier côté qui présente un contour de la surface symétrique à l'une des extrémités, et un côté opposé qui présente un contour de la surface symétrique à l'autre extrémité.
