ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A free-standing pipe cutter has a stand formed of three legs, supporting a split clamping sleeve, part of which is secured to a guide sleeve for a rotary cutter assembly rotatable on an annular path, so that a cutter blade engages a pipe clamped by the sleeve, the cutter blade being advanced during such rotation to cut the pipe progressively more deeply, in use, by rotation of a manual operating member relative to the cutter. The legs of the stand are capable of being re-positioned to convert the pipe cutter from right handed operation to left-handed operation or vice versa.
