ABSTRACT Provided is a pipe end protector for protecting the threads and end face of a pipe end. The pipe end protector comprises a substantially open-ended metal sleeve and a cast polyurethane liner chemically bonded to the surface of the sleeve closest to the threads. The liner is configured, dimensioned and contoured during the casting thereof so that the surface of the liner facing the threads threadedly receives such threads. The sleeve is provided with a radially extending annular end face portion for covering the end face of the pipe. The liner is provided with a radially extending annular end face portion for bearing against the end face of the pipe end. The pipe end protector of the present invention is particularly suited for use during mill operations, since it allows for both hydrostatic pressure testing and drift testing with the protector in place. Also provided is a pipe end closure for protecting against ingress of foreign material such as snow. The pipe end protector can be adapted to protect pipe ends having either external or internal threads.
