Abstract A pipe has a concrete cladding sprayed thereon in discrete sections separated by spacers. Each generally T-shaped flexible spacer is used in the formation of a flexible compressible joint in the concrete cladding. Each spacer has a base flange and a compressible web extending generally perpendicularly from the base flange on one side thereof. The spacers are self supporting with the web radial of the pipe. The web is at least resistant to bending adjacent the base flange as at positions remote from the base flange. The flange is positioned adjacent the pipe.
