ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A pipe fitting comprising a male member and a female element, the element having a wide section of a diameter greater than the diameter of the male member. An integral sleeve is provided on the element substantially parallel to the wide section and spaced inwardly thereof. The sleeve and the wide section together form a groove. The male member slides into the groove to form the joint. In the preferred form of the device, a retainer is provided on the wide section. The retainer is of ring shape and is of greater diameter than the section. Within the retainer is a sealing ring which bears against the outer wall of the male member.
