The invention relates to a pipe joint with a sleeve element (1, 23) and with a spigot element (6, 7, 22). The intention of the invention a that loading should be absorbed no longer by the abutment alone, but rather predominantly by the thread of the pipe joint. The suitable selection of leads and tooth gaps in one element makes it possible for the guide flank at one thread end to be braced against the load flank at the other thread end, maximum bracing taking place at the edges of the thread and decreasing toward the thread center.
