A joint seal (10) has a through bore (12) and two spherical spaced convex surfaces (20, 22) which mate with respective concave spherical surfaces (38, 44) on a pair of adjacent flanges (26, 42). The flanges are welded to and about the periphery of corresponding spaced pipes (6, 8) one of which is inserted in the bore (12) of the seal. The flanges are joined by two bolts (52), one flange (26) being fixedly secured to the bolts (52) and the other resiliently movably secured to the bolts by a pair of springs (62) to permit that other flange (42) to rotate in response to rotation of the pipe (8) affixed thereto. The one flange forms a static wedgelike seal joint with one of the pipes and the other flange a dynamic seal joint with the respective seal spherical surfaces, the spherical seal and flange surfaces being urged together in wedged relation by the springs.

L'invention porte sur joint étanche pour raccord (10), comportant un alésage traversant (12) et deux surfaces sphériques convexes (20, 22) respectivement appariées à une paire de brides contiguës (26, 42). Les brides (38, 44) sont respectivement fixées et soudées au pourtour de deux tuyaux séparés (6, 8) dont l'un est inséré dans l'alésage (12) du joint. Les brides sont reliées par deux boulons (52), l'une d'elles (26) étant solidaire des boulons (52) et l'autre étant reliée aux boulons par une fixation élastique mobile comportant une paire de ressorts (62) permettant à l'autre bride (42) de tourner en réponse à la rotation du tuyau (8) fixé à celle-ci. L'une des brides forme avec l'un des tubes un joint étanche statique à effet de coincement, tandis que l'autre forme avec les surfaces sphériques respectives d'étanchéité un joint étanche dynamique, les surfaces du joint sphérique et celles des brides étant forcées l'une vers l'autre avec un effet de coincement par les ressorts.
