A B S T R A C T A wrapping structure for protecting pipes has a plurality of ribs and a plurality of apertures and is flexible. The apertures allow a cathodic protection system to operate. On the side to be applied to a pipe the surfaces of the ribs lie in a single plane so that when drawn tight there are no projections to cut into wrappings or coatings on the pipe. The structure is preferably of a resilient polymeric material, preferably air entrained polyethylene.
