An inspection device is disclosed which has lights for illuminating at least a portion of the walls of a cavity, e.g. a pipe, and a camera assembly. The camera assembly has a camera compartment with a plurality of video cameras pointing radially about an axis. The cameras are positioned at intervals around the axis, preferably in two adjacent rings. The cameras are encased in a coaxial transparent tubular sleeve, through which light may pass into the cameras. In use, the inspection device is moved into an underground pipe so that the axis of the camera assembly is substantially parallel to a longitudinal axis of the pipe. Images are transmitted from the cameras to a remote observation post outside the pipe. Transmission is preferably done using one of the cameras a master camera and the remaining cameras as slave cameras. A microprocessor monitors and adjusts timing signals from the slave cameras and the master camera to which the slave cameras are to be synchronized.
