A pipeline inspection pig for locating crack-like defects (10) in pipeline walls (8) comprises at least one transmit transducer (T) for transmitting ultrasound energy into the pipeline wall (8), and at least one associated receive transducer (R) located adjacent the transmit transducer (T), the arrangement being such that, for a given defect (10) in the pipeline wall (8), ultrasound energy within the pipeline wall (8) is incident on the defect (10), part of said energy being reflected by the defect (10) back to the receive transducer (8) in the form of a first data stream, and the remainder of said energy passing through the defect (10) to be attenuated thereby and thence returned to the receive transducer (R) in the form of a second data stream, interpretation of the first and second data streams enabling the location of the defect (10) to be determined.
L'invention concerne un racleur inspecteur de pipeline, destiné au repérage de défauts de type fissure (10) dans des parois de pipeline (8), comprenant au moins un transducteur émetteur (T), destiné à émettre une énergie ultrasonore dans la paroi du pipeline (8), et au moins un transducteur récepteur associé (R) disposé adjacent au transducteur émetteur (T), cette disposition étant telle que, pour un défaut donné, (10) dans la paroi du pipeline (8), l'énergie ultrasonore à l'intérieur de cette paroi (8) soit incidente sur le défaut (10), une partie de cette énergie étant réfléchie par le défaut (10) et retournant au transducteur récepteur (8) sous la forme d'un premier flux de données, le reste de cette énergie traversant le défaut (10), subissant une atténuation, et étant retournée au transducteur récepteur (R) sous la forme d'un second flux de données, l'interprétation des premier et second flux de données permettant de localiser le défaut (10) recherché.
