As a result of studies on compounds having a selective inhibitory activity against 17.beta.HSD type 5, the present inventors have confirmed that a {1-[(indol-2-- yl) carbonyl]piperidyl}alkanol derivative has a potent selective inhibitory activity against 17.beta.HSD type 5. The invention has been completed based on these findings. The compound of the present invention can be used as an agent for treating and/or an agent for preventing diseases associated with 17.beta.HSD type 5, such as benign prostatic hyperplasia and prostate cancer, without accompanying adverse effects due to a decrease in testosterone.
L'invention concerne un dérivé de pipéridine, selon lequel une étude est faite sur un composé ayant une activité inhibitrice sélective sur le 17ßHSD type-5, et il est confirmé qu'un dérivé de [1-[(indol-2-yl)carbonyl]pipéridyl]alcanol a une activité inhibitrice sélective puissante sur 17ßHSD type-5. Le composé peut être utilisé comme agent thérapeutique et/ou prophylactique pour une maladie associée au 17ßHSD type-5 (par exemple, hyperplasie prostatique bénigne, cancer de la prostate) et n'a pas d'effet secondaire défavorable provoqué par la diminution du taux de testostérone.
