ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Novel piperidine, piperazine and homopiperazine derivatives of the general formula: Image (I) In the formula the pair (X,n) takes any one of the following values: (N, 1), (N, 2), (CH, 1). R is (a) a hydrogen atom, (b) an alkylcarbonyl or alkyloxycarbonyl group where the alkyl residue is linear or branched and comprises 1 to 5 carbon atoms, (c) a heterocyclic-carbonyl group (hetercyclic-CO) in which the heterocycle is a furyl, thienyl, tetra- hydrofuryl, pyridyl or [(methylthio-2) oxadiazole-1,3,4,yl]-5 nucleus, a benzoyl, trimethoxy-3,4,5 cinnamoyl, allyloxycarbonyl, (methyl-2 propene-1 yl-3) oxycarbonyl, benzyloxycarbonyl or phenoxycarbonyl chain, or a phenylthio group, except in the case where X represents the CH group. Ar is one of the following nucleii: benzimidazolyl-4(7); (alkyl-2) benzimidazolyl-4 (7) in which the alkyl residue comprises 1 to 4 carbon atoms; (phenyl-2) benzimidazolyl-4 (7); (benzyl-2) benzimidazolyl- 4 (7); purinyl-6 except in the case where the pair (X, R) take the values (N, H); benzotriazolyl-4 (7); indolyl-7; indolyl-4, but only in the case where the pair (X, n) takes the value (n, 1). The acid addition sales are also disclosed. The compounds are useful as antihypertensives.
