A piston particularly adapted for heavy-duty diesel engine applications is fabricated from separate parts having circumferentially extending joining surfaces that are heated prior to bonding to an elevated temperature sufficient to enable bonding of the joining surfaces, and thereafter the joining surfaces brought into contact with one another and twisted to attain a permanent metallurgical weld at the interface of the joining surfaces.

Selon l'invention, un piston particulièrement adapté pour des applications de moteur diesel lourd est fabriqué à partir de pièces séparées présentant des surfaces d'assemblage circonférencielles chauffées, préalablement au collage, à une température élevée suffisante pour permettre le collage des surfaces d'assemblage. Les surfaces d'assemblage sont ensuite placées au contact l'une de l'autre et spiralées pour donner une soudure métallurgique permanente au niveau de l'interface des surfaces d'assemblage.
