A piston based ventilator (10) for delivering breathing gas to the lungs of a patient and more partic- ularly a piston based ventilator (10) that delivers breathing gas to a pa- tient upon longitudinal movement of a piston rod (28) and associated pis- ton head (26) within a piston cylin- der (36). The piston rod (28) is cen- trally located within the cylinder (36) and moves along the cylinder (36) in response to direct drive from a mo- tor (62) to move the piston head (26) within the cylinder (36) and displace a volume of gas to be delivered to the patient.

L'invention se rapporte à un respirateur à piston (10) permettant d'envoyer un gaz respiratoire dans les poumons d'un patient, et plus particulièrement à un respirateur à piston (10) qui administre un gaz respiratoire au cours du déplacement longitudinal de la tige (28) de piston et de la tête (26) de piston associée placée dans un cylindre (36). La tige (28) de piston est située au centre du cylindre (36) et se déplace le long du cylindre (36) en réponse à l'entraînement direct d'un moteur (62) qui déplace la tête (26) de piston à l'intérieur du cylindre (36) et donc un volume de gaz à administrer au patient.
