The invention relates to a piston for a reciprocating-piston internal combustion engine which is made of a nitride-forming base alloy and comprises a piston top part (1) provided with several circulatory piston ring grooves (4) and a piston fire land. At least the piston top ring groove (4a) arranged near a combustion chamber is provided with wear-protected hardened slot flanks (5a, b). The aim of said invention is to optimise said piston in such a way that the top part thereof, in particular the top piston ring grooves, exhibits an extended operational lifetime. For this purpose, at least the external surfaces of the piston top part comprising the wear-protected hardened slot flanks and the piston fire land are provided with an additional wear- protective and anti-corrosive layer (7) in the form of a nitride layer which is producible by converting the nitride-forming base alloy by plasma-nitriding or plasma-nitrocarburising in a nitrogen or nitrogen and carbon atmosphere in such a way that the hardened slot flanks are additionally protected by said nitride layer (7)
La présente invention concerne un piston pour un moteur à combustion interne à piston alternatif qui est constitué d'un alliage de base producteur de nitrure et qui comprend une partie supérieure de piston (1) présentant plusieurs gorges de segment de piston circulaires (4) et une couronne de piston. Au moins la gorge de segment de piston supérieure (4a) qui est située à proximité de la chambre de combustion présente des flancs de gorge trempés (5a, b) à protection anti-usure. L'objectif de la présente invention est d'optimiser un tel piston de manière que la partie supérieure du piston, en particulier ses gorges de segment de piston supérieures, présente une durée de vie utile prolongée. A cette fin, au moins les surfaces extérieures de la partie supérieure du piston, qui comprennent les flancs de gorge trempés anti-usure et la couronne de piston, sont pourvues d'une couche de protection supplémentaire anti-usure et anticorrosion (7) se présentant sous forme d'une couche de nitruration. Cette couche de protection anticorrosion est produite en transformant l'alliage de base producteur de nitrure par nitruration au plasma ou nitrocarburation au plasma dans une atmosphère contenant de l'azote ou du carbone et de l'azote, de manière à protéger de façon supplémentaire les flancs de gorge trempés au moyen d'une couche de nitruration (7).
