An improvement in a piston-style of pulsation damper is described. Liquid from an hydraulic system passes through a second opening into a second chamber to exert a pressure upon a second face of a piston. This is counterbalanced by pressure exerted upon a first face of the piston by an external pressure source. The improvement includes of a baffle plate having an outer periphery and a plurality of apertures. The baffle plate is disposed transversely across the second opening such that liquid from the hydraulic system must pass through the apertures in the baffle plate in order to enter the second chamber. The apertures are of varying sizes with the largest of such apertures being disposed adjacent the outer periphery of the baffle plate and gradually diminishing in size inwardly from the outer periphery. A swirling action is induced by the varying sizes of apertures in the flow of liquid passing into the second chamber which serves to wash abrasives and debris from the peripheral wall of the tubular body in the second chamber.
