An insert (40) is provided for attachment to the inlet or nose of a pilot tube (10) to withstand the wear and damage imposed on the inlet of the pilot tube by high velocity and high pressure fluid moving through the rotary casing and into the pilot tube. The insert (40) reduces the amount of damage normally done to the pilot tube (10) under normal operating conditions thereby extending the life of the pilot tube. When worn or damaged, only the insert needs to be replaced rather than the entire pilot tube as is done in conventional systems. The insert (40) permits the machining of the insert to meet the specifications of a particular application, thereby providing the ability to control pump performance over a wider range of operational conditions.

L'invention concerne une pièce rapportée (40) destinée à être fixée à l'orifice d'admission ou à la pointe d'un tube de Pitot (10) pour résister à l'usure et aux dommages causés à l'orifice d'admission du tube de Pitot par un fluide à grande vitesse et à haute pression s'écoulant par le revêtement rotatif dans le tube de Pitot.
