A sidewall mounted, pivotable container stop mechanism for use with railcars or other types of transportation vessels having a cargo hold. The mechanism includes an elongate stop member pivotable between a retracted position wherein the stop member is stored exterior of the cargo hold and an actuated or extended position wherein the stop member extends into the cargo hold through an opening in the cargo hold sidewall and is adjacent to a large container thereby preventing the displacement thereof during transit. The mechanism includes a latch means for releasably locking the elongate stop member in the stored position. Means are also provided for maintaining the elongate member in the extended position.

Mécanisme pivotant de blocage de conteneur, monté sur la paroi latérale, pour utilisation sur wagons ou autres types de véhicules de transport comportant un compartiment à marchandises. Le mécanisme comporte un élément de blocage allongé qui peut pivoter entre une position rétractée dans laquelle il est rangé à l'extérieur du compartiment à marchandises et une position saillante ou engagée dans laquelle l'élément de blocage entre dans le compartiment à marchandises par une ouverture dans la paroi latérale du compartiment à marchandises et se trouve adjacent à un gros conteneur, ce qui empêche son déplacement durant le transport.
