An improved trap apparatus for the inlet end of a drainage pipe leading from a side wall of an enclosure adapted to hold a body of water which runs through said pipe, said pipe having a sleeve adapted to fit in the inlet end of a drainage pipe extending from a side wall of a water holding enclosure, improvement comprising a hood slideably and pivotably mounted to the sleeve, said hood extending downwardly to a level below the sleeve and said inlet end of the drainage pipe and having an entrance at said level, said hood having means for accessing said drainage pipe, wherein said hood can be slided and tilted away from said sleeve to be positioned adjacent to said side wall.
