In a radial cylinder machine comprising a plurality of pistons (11) radially arranged and moving in respective cylinder housings (13), there are provided arms (12) for pivotal connection of the pistons (1) about axes (16, 18) remote from the pistons (11) to stabilize the motion of the pistons (11) in their cylinder housings (13) whilst the pistons (11) traverse a substantially linear path between top dead centre and bottom dead centre.
