A long ribbon, composed of a multitude of fine wires, is placed at the requisite bristle angle onto a backing ring. A torch, welds the ribbon to the backing plate and simultaneously severs the ribbon forming a first bundle of wires. The severed ribbon is repositioned, relative to the backing ring, adjacent to the first bundle, and the ribbon is again welded in-place and cut. The procedure of placement, welding and cutting is repeated until the backing plate (or the ribbon) has been repositioned over the desired length of the plate to achieve the requisite bristle array of the brush seal.
Dans cette invention, on place un long ruban constitué d'une multitude de fils fins sur un anneau de support de manière à obtenir l'angle des poils nécessaire. A l'aide d'un chalumeau on soude le ruban sur la plaque de support et le ruban se sépare simultanément, formant ainsi un premier faisceau de fils. Le ruban séparé est repositionné par rapport à l'anneau de support, adjacent au premier faisceau, puis le ruban est à nouveau soudé en place et coupé. On recommence le processus de mise en place, de soudure et de découpe jusqu'à ce que la plaque de support (ou le ruban) ait été repositionnée sur la longueur voulue de la plaque pour produire le réseau de poils nécessaire pour le joint d'étanchéité à balai.
