A novel organic anion transporter gene participating in organic anion transport in the placenta; and an organic anion transporter which is a polypeptide encoded by the gene. A placental organic anion transporter OAT4, more particularly, a placental organic anion transporter OAT4 having the amino acid sequence represented by SEQ ID NO:2 or an amino acid sequence derived therefrom by deletion, substitution or addition of a part of the amino acids thereof. A nucleic acid (preferably DNA) having a base sequence encoding the placental organic anion transporter OAT4 or a base sequence hybridizable therewith under stringent conditions.

L'invention concerne un nouveau gène transporteur d'anion organique participant au transport anionique organique dans le placenta et un transporteur d'anion organique qui est un polypeptide codé par le gène. L'invention concerne aussi un transporteur d'anion organique placentaire OAT4, plus particulièrement un transporteur d'anion organique placentaire OAT4 ayant la séquence d'acides aminés représentée par SEQ ID N DEG 2 ou une séquence d'acides aminés obtenue par délétion, substitution ou addition d'une partie des acides aminés. L'invention concerne encore un acide nucléique (de préférence un ADN) ayant une séquence de base codant pour le transporteur d'anion organique placentaire OAT4 ou une séquence de base hybridisable contenue dans celui-ci dans des conditions strictes.
