An optical panel (10) is disclosed. A plurality of stacked planar optical waveguides (10a) are used to guide light from an inlet face (20) to an outlet face (24) of an optical panel (10). Each of the optical waveguides (10a) comprises a planar sheet of core material having a central plane. The core material has an index of refraction which decreases as the distance from the central plane increases. The decrease in the index of refraction occurs gradually and continuously.
L'invention concerne un écran optique (10). On utilise une pluralité de guides d'ondes optiques planaires en pile (10a) pour guider la lumière depuis une face d'entrée (20) vers une face de sortie (24) de l'écran optique (10). Chaque guide d'ondes (10a) comprend une feuille planaire de matériau coeur ayant un plan central. Le matériau coeur présente un indice de réfraction qui diminue à mesure qu'augmente la distance par rapport au plan central. La diminution de l'indice de réfraction intervient de façon progressive et continue.
