ABSTRACT The invention is concerned with a plano- graphic printing machine having an inking mechanism, a lithographic printing plate cylinder and a blanket cylinder. The printing plate cylinder has information- bearing or printing areas which are hydrophylic and non-printing areas which are hydrophobic and the inking mechanism has an engraved roller on which a doctor blade is mounted and an ink transfer roller located between the engraved roller and the printing plate cylinder.
