The invention provides engineered plant minichromosomes generated by telomere mediated truncation of native chromosomes. These minichromosomes are faithfully transmitted from one generation to the next and provide an ideal platform for breeding genes into desired plant varieties with out problems, such as linkage drag, associated with standard breeding methods.

L'invention concerne des mini-chromosomes végétaux issus du génie génétique, générés par un troncage médié par le télomère des chromosomes natifs. Ces mini-chromosomes sont fidèlement transmis d'une génération à l'autre et constituent une plateforme idéale pour la reproduction de gènes dans des variétés végétales souhaitées sans aucun problème, tel que le <= linkage drag >= (segment de chromosome donneur retenu autour du gène cible), associé aux procédés de reproduction classiques.
