The present invention relates to a peptide of the formula: (see above formula) wherein R1 and R2 are the same or different and each represents SO3H or H; X represents an .alpha.-amino acid or a single bond; Z1 and Z2 are the same or different and each represents an .alpha.-amino acid; and Y represents OH or NH2. The present plant growth factors promote the cell growth in all higher plants, and are particularly effective in the promotion of cell growth of monocotyledons such as asparagus, rice and maize.

On décrit des peptides de formule générale (I), où R<1> et R<2> représentent chacun indépendamment SO3H ou H; X représente un résidu, à savoir un acide aminé alpha , ou une liaison simple; Z<1> et Z<2> représentent chacun indépendamment un résidu, à savoir un acide aminé alpha ; et Y représente OH ou NH2. Même si ces facteurs promeuvent la croissance cellulaire chez toutes les plantes supérieures, ils se révèlent particulièrement efficaces pour promouvoir celle des monocotylédones telles que l'asperge, le riz, le blé, etc.
