This invention relates to an isolated nucleic acid fragment encoding a plant defensin. The invention also relates to the construction of a chimeric gene encoding all or a substantial portion of the plant defensin, in sense or antisense orientation, wherein expression of the chimeric gene results in production of altered levels of the plant defensin in a transformed host cell.
Cette invention concerne un fragment d'acide nucléique isolé codant une défensine de la plante. Elle concerne également la construction d'un gène chimère codant toute ou une bonne partie de la défensine de la plante selon une orientation sens ou antisens. L'expression du gène chimère donne lieu à la production de niveaux altérés de la défensine de la plante dans une cellule hôte transformée.
