ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: A plant for refining molten pig iron has a converter surrounded by a carrying ring tiltable around a horizontal axis by opposite- ly arranged carrying trunnions and at least one water-cooled hook-shaped blowing lance which looks like an inverted U and which is liftably and lowerably arranged on a stationary verti- cal lance guide lateral of the converter outside its tilting area, and at least one lance car for guiding the at least one water-cooled lance on the stationary lance guide.
