20337-366 ABSTRACT A plant for the production of hot-rolled steel band from continuously cast slab, in which after leaving the extrusion plant the slab is wound into a coil in a winding apparatus. The coil is transferred into an unwinding apparatus with the help of a conveyor, from which the unwound slab is moved to a rolling mill. The winding and unwinding systems and the conveyor for moving the coil are arranged within an oven, the conveyors for the coil being winding mandrels that are movable on a process path that runs in one plane, e.g. vertical or horizontal.
