ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A plant growth regulating composition is disclosed which contains as active ingredient from 0.2 to 99.5% by mass, based on the mass of the composition, of one or more ammonium phosphonate of the general formula: Image (I) wherein R1 stands for a C1-4 alkyl group; R2 stands for a (C1-4 alkoxy)-(C1-4 alkyl) or a C6-20 alkyl group; and R3 represents hydrogen or a C1-15 alkyl group, in association with a solid or liquid filler or carrier. Optionally the composition contains other additives such as a surfactant and/or an adhesion promoting agent.
