The present invention relates to the use of a compound for plant growth regulation, preferably by application of the compound to plants, to the seeds from which they grow or to the locus in which they grow, in an effective plant growth regulating, preferably non-phytotoxic amount, which compound is a 3,4- disubstituted maleimide derivative of formula (I) or an agriculturally acceptable salt thereof, wherein: X is aryl or heteroaryl which groups are unsubstituted or substituted; Y is NH or a covalent bond; and Z is aryl or heteroaryl which groups are unsubstituted or substituted and a method for treatment of plants with such compounds in order to induce growth regulating responses.

L'invention concerne l'utilisation d'un composé de régulation de la croissance végétale, de préférence par application du composé aux plantes, aux semences de production de ces plantes ou au site de croissance de ces plantes, dans des proportions de régulation de croissance végétale efficaces, de préférence non phytotoxiques. Ce composé est un dérivé de 3,4-maléimide disubstitué représenté par la formule (I), ou un sel acceptable de celui-ci sur le plan agricole. Dans cette formule, X représente un groupe aryle ou hétéroaryle substitué ou non substituée; Y représente NH ou une liaison covalente; et Z représente un groupe aryle ou hétéroaryle substitué ou non substitué. Par ailleurs, l'invention concerne un procédé de traitement de plantes au moyen de ces composés, qui vise à déclencher des réponses de régulation de la croissance.
