A B S T R A C T An apparatus is disclosed for planting seeds in planter flats comprising a soil hopper to fill the planter flats with soil, a compactor to indent the soil in the flats for seeds and a seed planter including a vacuum operated seed transfer means which picks up seeds from a seed bin, carries them to a planter flat and deposits them in the soil.
