-1- ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: A plant supporting device comprising a hook member, a spool on which a cord is adapted to be wound and a brake fixed to the hook member for stopping the rotation of the spool. The hook member comprises a horizontal and a vertical portion. An axle for rotatably supporting the spool extends horizontally from the vertical portion and projects in the same or adjacent vertical plane as the horizontal portion. The horizontal portion extends over and across the spool. The horizontal portion has a notch facing the spool. The notch is adapted to freely hold a horizontally disposed wire. The spool has a hub provided with a plurality of circumferential apertures. The brake is a pin slidingly mounted on the vertical portion and adapted to penetrate into one of the apertures in the hub for stopping the rotation of the spool. The device may be slid along the wire and the cord unwound from the spool by pulling on the cord while the pin is pulled out from the apertures.
