Abstract of the disclosure The invention relates to a plant for enriching uranium by gaseous diffusion. This plant includes a plurality of vertical isotope separation towers (1) which are crossed by an isotopic mixture of uranium hexafluoride and each of which is bounded by a leaktight metal enclosure (8a-8b). A load-withstanding structure (10) absorbs at least part of the loads to which each shell is subjected whilst allowing the enclosure to expand freely. The lower part (1b) of the tower projects into a thermal protection chamber (9). The upper part (1a) of the tower is reinforced by a concrete covering or bell-like structure which further provides thermal insulation over that part of the tower. The invention is applicable in particular to plants which include a great number of large-size towers. -1-
