Isolated polynucleotides and polypeptides and recombinant DNA constructs particularly useful for altering agro-nomic characteristics of plants under nitrogen limiting conditions, compositions (such as plants or seeds) comprising these recom-binant DNA constructs, and methods utilizing these recombinant DNA constructs. The recombinant DNA construct comprises a polynucleotide operably linked to a promoter functional in a plant, wherein said polynucleotide encodes an LNT1 polypeptide.

L'invention porte sur des polynucléotides et polypeptides isolés et des constructions d'ADN recombiné particulièrement utiles pour modifier des caractéristiques agronomiques de plantes dans des conditions de limitation en azote, sur des compositions (telles que des plantes ou des graines) comprenant ces constructions d'ADN recombiné et sur des procédés utilisant ces constructions d'ADN recombiné.
