The present invention concerns a method for improving the growth characteristics of plants by introducing and expressing in a plant a nucleic acid encoding an S3a protein. The invention also relates to transgenic plants having introduced therein a nucleic acid encoding an S3a protein, which plants have improved growth characteristics relative to corresponding wild type plants. The present invention also concerns constructs useful in the methods of the invention.

La présente invention a trait à un procédé pour l'amélioration des caractéristiques de croissance de plantes par l'introduction et l'expression dans une plante d'un acide nucléique codant pour une protéine S3a. L'invention a également trait à des plantes transgéniques dans lesquelles a été introduit un acide nucléique codant pour une protéine S3a, lesdites plantes présentant des caractéristiques de croissance améliorées comparées aux plantes de type sauvage correspondantes. La présente invention a trait en outre à des constructions utiles dans les procédés de l'invention.
