The present invention concerns a method for increasing plant yield by increasing activity in a plant of an OsMADS18-like polypeptide or a homologue thereof. One such method comprises introducing into a plant an OsMADS18-like nucleic acid or variant thereof. The invention also relates to transgenic plants having introduced therein an OsMADS18-like nucleic acid or variant thereof, which plants have increased yield relative to corresponding wild type plants. The present invention also concerns constructs useful in the methods of the invention.

L'invention concerne un procédé d'amélioration du rendement de plantes par augmentation, dans ces plantes, de l'activité d'un polypeptide de type OsMADS18 ou d'un homologue correspondant. Par exemple, un tel procédé consiste à introduire dans la plante considérée un acide nucléique de type OsMADS18 ou un variant correspondant. On décrit aussi des plantes transgéniques dans lesquelles a été introduit l'acide nucléique ou le variant en question, et ces plantes ont un rendement amélioré par rapport à des plantes correspondantes de type sauvage. L'invention concerne enfin des constructions utiles pour la mise en oeuvre des procédés décrits.
