A plasma torch incorporates at plurality of arc forming chambers arranged symmetrically about an axis and each containing a first electrode. A common electrode cooperates with the electrode in each chamber to form an arc in each chamber and is provided with converging passages leading one from each chamber and converging into a common nozzle passage extending along the axis. A reactant feed passage opens into the common nozzle passage co-axial with the nozzle passage in a region of convergence of the converging passages to inject reactants into the centre of the plasma jet formed in the nozzle passage in the direction of movement of the plasma jet through the nozzle passage.
Chalumeau à plasma (10) incorporant une pluralité de chambres à arcs (14) disposées symétriquement autour d'un axe (16) et possédant chacune une première électrode (18). Une électrode commune (32) coopérant avec l'électrode (18) de chaque chambre (14) de façon à y former un arc est dotée de passages convergents (36) venant respectivement de chaque chambre et convergeant vers un canal de buse commun (40) s'étendant le long de l'axe (16). Un canal d'alimentation en réactif débouche dans le canal de buse commun (40) coaxialement avec celui-ci dans la zone de convergence des passages convergents (36) de façon à injecter des réactifs dans le centre du jet de plasma formé dans le canal de buse dans la direction du mouvement dudit jet à travers le canal de buse (40).
