A plastic bottle designed to be crushed by axial compression when empty, including a cylindrical body with a polygonal cross-section, e.g. a substantially square or rectangular cross-section with rounded corners (18), and transverse grooves (14) comprising incipient folds (16) immediately adjacent to said rounded corners (18). In particular, said bottle is used to contain beverages such as mineral water.
